Carbon County Release Meanings
A Carbon County jail release closes county custody or passes custody to another authority. It does not always mean that a person walked back into the community. Bond, own-recognizance release, time served, dismissal, sentence completion, and a judge's order may lead to community release. Transfer to the Utah Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody instead ends one jail episode while confinement continues elsewhere.
Parole and probation also require care. Parole ends prison confinement but keeps the person under the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole and Adult Probation and Parole. Probation is imposed by a court and can occur without any state-prison term. A discharge or sentence termination ends the relevant correctional term. These outcomes determine which record matters after a Carbon County booking is removed.

The booking number connects the request to a single jail event. Admission and actual release timestamps show when county custody began and ended. Release disposition distinguishes a community release from a transfer, while holds and clearance entries may explain delay or another agency's role.

A date must be read with its type. A date by itself cannot distinguish freedom from transfer. Likewise, a court order gives the legal result but may not state the exact moment jail staff completed release. Request Carbon County Release Records
The Carbon County Clerk is the county records officer. The official Carbon County GRAMA request page accepts online, in-person, and mailed requests. - Keep the written response, including any denial, referral, classification, or appeal instructions.
Carbon County describes a response within ten business days unless extraordinary circumstances apply. Inspection is free. Copies, scans, and actual processing may cost money, and the detailed county page notes processing charges after 15 minutes. No fixed release-record or per-copy price is posted, so obtain an estimate rather than assuming a fee.

Carbon County Release Record Access
Website visibility and government retention are different. The current-bookings row can disappear while the underlying jail record remains under an approved retention schedule. Carbon County publishes no web retention period and no local release-record retention term. Ask the records officer for the applicable record series and schedule if retention is central to the request.
Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, or GRAMA, classifies records as public, private, controlled, or protected. A release record is not automatically open in every detail. Under Title 63G, Chapter 2, an office may redact protected material while producing public parts. Sections 63G-2-203 and 63G-2-204 govern reasonable fees, request contents, response time, and appeals. Juvenile, sealed, and expunged material may be limited.
Carbon County Expungement Changes
Utah's automatic-expungement process changed on January 1, 2026. Courts now identify qualifying automatic cases, replacing the temporary request-form procedure used in 2024 and 2025. Petition cases follow a different route through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and the court. Those paths have separate eligibility rules and waiting periods, so they should not be merged.
No Carbon-specific clinic appears in the Utah Courts county clinic directory. Statewide Self-Help, BCI resources, and the Utah State Bar Virtual Legal Clinic remain the documented assistance routes. Expungement seals government records according to the order and Utah law. It does not force an independent news report to vanish.
Find Carbon County Released Inmates
The best search order follows the custody type. Begin with Carbon County's roster only to decide whether a person still appears in county custody. If the name is absent, switch to records of a completed event. Never turn roster absence into a release date or assume that the person returned to the community.
- Search the current Carbon County table by first and last name. Match the booking number and arrival date.
- Call the jail at 435-636-3254 about the specific booking and ask whether it ended in community release or transfer.
- Submit a focused GRAMA request for the actual release timestamp and disposition when a durable record is needed.
- Check the correct court for the dismissal, judgment, sentence, or later order.
- Use UDC, the Board, VINE, BOP, or ICE only when that distinct custody system applies.
A missing Carbon County booking is not proof of release. It may reflect transfer, another status event, or unknown agency update lag.
Carbon County Roster Limits
The official Carbon County Current Bookings table shows last name, first name, booking number, arrival, and three hold fields. It has no release date, release time, release reason, charge, destination, or photo. Exporting its rows to CSV still creates a current-bookings file, not a release log. Comparing personal snapshots can show that a row changed, but not why.

Carbon County Recent Release Gaps
Carbon County publishes neither an official 24-hour release list nor a 72-hour release list. The browser table has no timed auto-refresh setting, but that fact does not reveal how often the source database changes. The county also gives no web archive or retention period. For same-day verification, use the jail phone and a booking-specific request. For a weekend or three-day span, name the people and dates in a focused request rather than trying to sort a current table into a historical feed.
The detailed same-day fallback is covered under Carbon County 24-Hour Releases. The sheriff business office closes Friday through Sunday and holidays, while the jail stays open at all times. Those hours do not establish a release schedule or a web update schedule.
Carbon County UDC Release Search
The Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search covers people now incarcerated by UDC or supervised by UDC on parole or probation. It excludes unsentenced county-jail detainees and is not a list of everyone ever released from Utah prison. Search by UDC number when possible. A name query needs at least one letter in both first and last name.

A `PAROLE` location can indicate that prison confinement ended while supervision continues. No result is inconclusive after full discharge because the search is limited to current supervision. Carbon County Release Court Paths
Carbon County Justice Court covers lower-level matters for the county, Price, Helper, and Wellington. It handles class B and C misdemeanors, ordinances, and infractions. Seventh District Court handles class A misdemeanors and felonies. The correct court therefore depends on the charge class, not just the arresting city.
XChange may preserve a public disposition, judgment, sentence, and later orders after a jail row disappears. Courthouse access is available without charge at most district courthouses, though local availability should be checked before travel. MyCourtCase serves parties and qualifying victims, not general public name searches. A court result explains legal action, but the jail record remains the best source for the actual release timestamp.
Carbon County Release Supervision
Utah Adult Probation and Parole Region 6 has a documented Carbon County contact in Price. Search UDC for parole or probation status, then use a Board order for parole or the court judgment for probation. The Board decides parole. AP&P supervises both parole and court-ordered probation but does not impose probation.
The Region 6 office and Price Treatment Resource Center share 1365 S. Carbon Avenue, Price, UT 84501, with the main number 435-636-2800. The center lists Moral Reconation Therapy, co-dependency, relapse prevention, maintenance, risk reduction, and Strengthening Families. Carbon County Release Status Systems
VINE supports one-person custody checks and alerts. Carbon County's sheriff page links the service, and UDC documents phone or online registration. VINE is not a certified release record. Technical delays can occur, a transfer alert is not community release, and any important result should be confirmed with the jail, UDC, or Board.
Federal and immigration cases use separate systems. BOP results can show a past release date and `RELEASED` status for federal custody after 1982. ICE's locator covers current custody and some releases within the prior 60 days, but a no-result does not prove release. The U.S. Marshals Service has no public historic release locator, so a federal pretrial result belongs in the federal docket and release order.
Utah State Release Day
UDC processes state-prison paroles and releases on Tuesdays, mainly at Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City. Almost all state prisoners housed in county jails return there for release, and direct state release from a county jail is described as extremely rare. This procedure does not set Carbon County Jail's ordinary release day or time.
The state process matters only when UDC controls the release. An ordinary Carbon County jail case remains with the sheriff until county custody ends or another authority accepts the person. Confirm that threshold before applying any statewide release-day rule.
Getting Home After Carbon Release
The UDC release-day page says a release-team member or volunteer may take a state prisoner without a ride to a nearby UTA TRAX station. People who need that transportation are released last. That service concerns releases at Utah State Correctional Facility.
Carbon County publishes no matching jail transportation plan, verified fixed-route stop, pickup point, or routine exit. Families should call the Price jail before travel instead of assuming the Salt Lake City practice applies. Ask whether pickup information is available and whether the person is leaving county custody or transferring elsewhere.
Carbon County Bond Release Checks
Utah Code ยง 77-20-203 lets a sheriff grant own-recognizance release only under a written county policy. It excludes a person held under the specified UDC 72-hour authority. Carbon County's written policy and a local bond schedule were not found online. The roster's hold columns are not bond fields.
Ask the jail and court whether a specific change was bond, own recognizance, another court order, or a hold-driven transfer. A vanished row cannot answer that question. The distinction also protects against treating transfer into state custody as community release.
Carbon County Jail Release History
UDC's FY2024 Jail Programs report lists 85 male beds at Carbon County Jail, zero contracted UDC beds, and zero beds available for state housing. Its funding history says the former contract was not renewed in FY2020. That does not rule out a case-specific state hold or short transfer.
The finding does change the search route. A state-sentenced person should be traced promptly through UDC and Board systems instead of being assumed to remain in the Price jail under an active state housing contract. Facility location and legal custody are separate facts.

When two sources appear to conflict, compare dates, identifiers, and the agency each record covers. The originating office can resolve a status that remains unclear.
Carbon County Release Facility
Carbon County Jail is the only public detention facility identified in the official county and state material reviewed. The Sheriff's Office operates it at 240 W Main Street in Price and houses people brought by law-enforcement agencies throughout Carbon County. No separate municipal jail, state prison, federal prison, or official ICE detention facility in Carbon County was identified.
A person leaving this jail may return to the community or transfer to another authority. Call 435-636-3254 and request the release record to tell those paths apart. No official source gives a routine release time, exit door, property-return sequence, family waiting point, transport plan, or gate payment.
The sheriff's business office is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closes on weekends and holidays. The jail itself stays open around the clock, including holidays. Those posted hours describe access to the building and office, not a release timetable. Before driving to Price, ask jail staff whether pickup information can be shared and whether another agency has assumed custody.
